For this work, I studied people and the characteristics that they portray in public life. The aim is to draw the persona as they want to be viewed, i.e. the image that they want others to see. In this way I was able to draw their personalities rather than a caricature of their actual appearance.

A blast from the past!
Following from my recent work about people and the how they would like to be percieved in public, this body of work focusses on found images of people from the past and characterizes them into comical personas.
Without Hope
This body of work is in response to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The series is called, "Without Hope".
The blues represent the colour of the ocean as it was, and the browns show how it is now. The characters try to put a face on the men and women of the Louisiana coast line who's lives have been turned upside down by the disaster and the paintings aim to allow the viewers to connect empathetically with these people.
The four ages of man.
We all follow a pattern, it’s a universal truth. But if you strip off all the different aespects of life, you’re left the same process.
Birth
Growth
Old age
Death
The paintings aim to show this as snap shots of a man’s life.
